Roles and Permissions

Roles and permissions are a cornerstone of how Partner Fleet manages partner access. They ensure that the right people see the right information at the right time throughout the platform. By carefully configuring roles and permissions, you control what partners can access during their listing creation journey, marketplace engagement, and development portal interactions.

Why Roles and Permissions Matter

  • Access Control: Define what partners can see across folders, resources, and templates.
  • Guided Experience: Limit or expand what’s visible at different stages of the partner’s pipeline journey.
  • Customization: Tailor permissions to match your partner program structure—whether you’re granting broad access or restricting to essentials.
  • Efficiency & Security: Protect sensitive information while ensuring partners can self-serve effectively.

Admin Role vs. Partner Roles

Admin Role

  • Single Role Only: There is one Admin role in Partner Fleet.
  • System-Wide Access: Admins can view and configure every part of the platform.
  • Marketplace Owners Only: This role should be reserved exclusively for marketplace owners or your internal platform team. Do not grant it to partners.

Partner Roles

  • Created and managed via Roles and Permissions.
  • Control visibility into resources, folders, templates, and the development portal.
  • Can be as restrictive or expansive as needed using the checkbox configuration system.

Key Functions of Partner Roles and Permissions

  • Platform Visibility – Decide what sections of Partner Fleet a partner can access.
  • Listing Creation Control – Determine which features, templates, or configurations are available during listing setup.
  • Pipeline Management – Govern what is displayed in the development portal as a partner progresses.
  • Resource Access – Allow or restrict access to shared resources, content folders, or internal assets.
  • Template Access – Grant permission to specific templates based on role.

How to Configure Partner Roles and Permissions

  1. Navigate to Users in your Partner Fleet admin dashboard.
  2. Click Roles and Permissions.
  3. Choose from:
    1. New Role (green box, top right) – to create a new configuration.
    2. Edit an Existing Role – to adjust permissions already assigned.
  4. Use the checkbox configuration system to get as granular as you’d like.
    1. Each permission can be toggled on or off.
    2. This enables you to define exactly what a partner role can or cannot do.

Example Use Cases for Partner Roles

  • Basic Partner Role: View listings only, submit lead forms, limited portal visibility.
  • Advanced Partner Role: Full access to templates, analytics, and deal registration tools.
  • Custom Roles: Create roles tied to partner tiers or partner program levels.

Wrap-Up

Roles and permissions are the foundation of a secure and well-structured Partner Fleet experience. By assigning the Admin role only to marketplace owners and tailoring partner roles with the right permissions, you ensure that partners get the access they need without compromising system-wide visibility. Thoughtful role design not only keeps your data protected but also creates a smoother, more intuitive journey for your partners as they engage with your marketplace and development portal.
